Ingredients
Pizza Crust. Since I'm at Trader Joe's, I like buying the premade pizza crusts to make this recipe even easier. You can buy any pizza crust you prefer, or you can make your own!
Frozen Birria. The beef broth of this frozen birria is so flavorful and takes the place of the pizza sauce, and you can save the broth to dip your pizza in! Plus, the Trader Joe's frozen birria is so easy to prepare. The cook time just depends on the method you defrost it! If you use the microwave, it only takes about 4 minutes. You could also make your own birria using a slow cooker, dutch oven, or an instant pot.
Red Onion. You can use red onion, or whatever onion you prefer. I like the crunch and bite it adds to the pizza.
Corn. I wanted to add another veggie, and loved the idea of corn on this pizza!
Mozzarella Cheese. I use shredded mozzarella cheese, but you can also use fresh mozzarella cheese slices.
Queso Cheese. I like to finish the pizza with a sprinkle of queso cheese! Not only does it make the pizza look delicious, who doesn't love a little queso cheese topping on their birria tacos?
Cilantro. Cilantro is a must! Not only is it a great garnish, I love the flavor of cilantro. If you don't like cilantro, you can simply omit this.
Pickled Jalapeno. This needs a little bit of spice, and I didn't want to add fresh jalapenos, so I found that pickled jalapenos are perfect for this Trader Joe's birria recipe.
Fresh Lime. I like to serve this pizza with fresh lime on the side so everyone can squeeze fresh lime on their own pizza slices.
