This is one of the best ways to cook salmon!
It is packed with flavor. The teriyaki is the perfect balance of salty, sweet, and savory. It adds the perfect flavor to cut through the somewhat fatty, rich-tasting salmon.
The teriyaki glaze is so easy to make. First off, I use store-bought teriyaki only. We keep things real simple over here. Second, making a glaze out of the teriyaki sauce is easy!
Between grilling or air frying, thereโs no wrong way to cook this. I always prefer to grill or air fry my salmon, I think it gives it the perfect outer "shell" while keeping the inside juicy. Either way is such a hands-off way of cooking, you'll be obsessed with this salmon dinner!
Hereโs what youโll need for this easy air fryer salmon recipe...
When I say this is a simple salmon recipe, this is a SIMPLE salmon recipe. Here's everything you'll need.
Teriyaki Sauce. I love the Soyaki from Trader Joe's, so that's what I used in this recipe. You can use your favorite store-bought teriyaki sauce!
Salmon Filet. I always opt for boneless filets. When shopping at Trader Joe's, I notice that the boneless filets are less expensive than the BBQ cut filets. They're essentially the same thing, but the BBQ is cut into smaller strips. I don't mind cooking an entire salmon filet like this, so I opt for the less expensive option!
Tips for marinating salmon
Here are a few tips for marinating salmon to help you in the kitchen.
How long should you marinate salmon?
Marinate salmon for at least 30 minutes in an air-tight container in the fridge.
Do you wash salmon before marinating?
Nope! I don't wash my salmon, but I do make sure that I take it out of the packaging and pat it dry. I notice when I do that it gets rid of that real "fishy" off-putting taste.
Best store-bought teriyaki sauce?ย
I love Trader Joe's Soyaki. However, you can also never go wrong with Kikkoman or Sweet Baby Ray's.

What about cooking salmon from frozen?
I personally am not a fan of cooking salmon from frozen, I prefer to buy it fresh either the day or day before I plan on cooking salmon.
What goes well with teriyaki salmon?
You can always pair veggies with teriyaki salmon, like butternut squash fries, air fryer broccoli,
You can also serve it with a salad. This cold soba noodle salad has a sriracha vinaigrette that would pair so well with the teriyaki salmon.
You can also go with the traditional brown rice or quinoa!
