Now, don't get me wrong, one of my summertime favorites is a good, grilled brat. Going to a baseball game? Give me a grilled brat with some onions all day long. BUT, sometimes grilling brats just aren't an option. Sometimes you live in an apartment with no outdoor space, or you live in a place that has winter and you won't always want to go out and grill... it's too cold! So, here comes cooking brats in the air fryer to the rescue. Put them in the basket with some sliced onion and it's such a delicious one-basket air fryer meal.

When you break down this recipe, you truly only need brats and onions. So easy!
- Brats - Pick your favorite brats. I love ALDI's brats or Jewel's brats. They never disappoint, and often times you can get a buy one get one free deal at Jewel.
- Onions - Grab some sweet onions preferably, but honestly whatever onions will work for this recipe.
How to cook brats in the air fryer
This air fryer brats recipe is so easy to make, the most "work" necessary is chopping the onions. Here's how to cook brats in the air fryer!
- Preheat to 350F, set it at 350F and let it run for 3 minutes if your air fryer doesn't have a preheat option.
- Slice onions lay down in the air fryer basket.
- Place your brats over them.
- Cook at 350F for 6 minutes, flip and cook at 350F for another 6 minutes.

- Make a brat! Grab some high quality brat buns and top your brat with your onions and mustard. I love using whole grain mustard for brats.
- Make a low-carb brat bowl! If you're trying to keep things low-carb or maybe even gluten free, dice up some romaine lettuce, add some brat, onions and mustard for a bowl.

Do I need to preheat my air fryer?
Yes! Absolutely you do. If your air fryer doesn't have a preheat setting, simply put it on 350F and let it run for 3 minutes. Your brats will cook much more thoroughly.
Cooked Brats vs. Uncooked Brats
This recipe does use uncooked brats, but you can make cooked brats in the air fryer! Simply cook them at 350F for 7-10 minutes as opposed to the 12-15. Additionally, you don't need to flip the cooked brats.
What about air frying frozen brats?
You can absolutely air fry frozen brats! Opposite to the cooked brats, cook them at 350F for 15-17 minutes, flipping halfway through.

- 2 sweet onions sliced

- Cook at 350F for 6 minutes, flip and cook for an additional 8 minutes.
