So, I was stalking Facebook Marketplace for dining room chairs that I could purchase and/or refinish because new dining room chairs are expensive! I found a set of 4 chairs that are similar to the Windsor style I was looking for. Between the 4 chairs + all my refinishing supplies, I'm sharing my dining room chair makeover.

TIPS FOR BUYING ON FACEBOOK MARKETPLACE
First and foremost, let's start with tips for buying stuff off Facebook Marketplace. So far, I've only gotten two things off of there - my coffee table + these dining room chairs. Currently, I'm on the hunt for a console table, and if I could find a nice area rug and/or sectional that would be so wonderful.
- Search for the piece of furniture/item you are selling. Don't get me wrong, I love just perusing Facebook Marketplace to see what they have for sale, but whenever I'm looking to actually buy something - I have a list of search terms that I specifically look for. For example, for these dining room chairs, I searched for "dining chairs," "kitchen chairs," and "windsor style chairs."
- Look on Pinterest for home decor inspiration and have a vision board, whether it be digital or physical, of what you want whatever room you're looking to redecorate to look like.
- There are ratings on Facebook if the person is a frequent FB marketplace seller, they do have rating feature if that makes you feel more comfortable purchasing from this type of platform.
- Make sure that you have the appropriate transportation to pick up your purchase!
Here's a pic of the "before."
WHAT I USED TO PAINT MY DINING ROOM CHAIRS
Ok, back to talking about what I used to paint these wooden dining chairs. I kinda sorta took the lazy way out, and I didn't sand the entire chair prior to priming and painting it. I sanded what I deemed were the "high traffic areas," which were the tops of the chairs and the seats. I figure people will be pulling the top of the chairs to sit on them and then the seat part... that's self explanatory.
- Sand Paper Block (2)
- Kilz 2 All Purpose Primer
- Flat Black Paint
- Paint Brushes
- Old Blanket or Paint Tarp to lay down.
REPAINTING DINING ROOM CHAIRS PROCESS
- WASH - your chairs with warm soapy water
- DRY - your chairs very very well
- SAND - whether you choose to sand the entire chairs or the high traffic areas like me
- PRIME - I put on only one coat of primer since I was painting them black and they came in a natural oak color. The primer I purchased (linked above) requires an hour minimum to dry before painting.
- PAINT - I did two coats of paint and then let the chairs dry for a few hours.
Aaaaaand here is the "after!"
Then that's my dining room chair makeover! That was the entire process. Since these were Windsor style chairs, it took me a bit longer to make sure that I evenly painted every inch. But I looooooved how they turned out! I love the matte black, they match perfectly with our dining room table, and if I do decide to add a pop of color, I can always add cushions.
