The Fourth of July is one of my favorite holidays to cook for. Great food, great people, warm summer nights, and fireworks. What is not to love? And while the burgers and hot dogs and all the classic cookout sides definitely have their moment, these 4th of July desserts are where the real fun happens.

You'll love these easy 4th of July desserts

These 4th of July desserts are easy, festive, and absolutely crowd-pleasing. Whether you are hosting a big backyard cookout, bringing something to a friend's party, or just looking for a fun way to celebrate with your family, there is something on this list for everyone.

    Easy 4th of July Desserts

The best 4th of July desserts lean into what the summer does best. Fresh berries are at their absolute peak right now, and strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries happen to be the most patriotic combination of flavors you can put on a dessert table. Red, white, and blue has never tasted so good. Think no-bake cheesecake bars topped with fresh berries, flag cakes layered with whipped cream and fruit, fruity cobblers, creamy ice cream treats, and everything in between. These are the kinds of desserts that get photographed before they get eaten, and then disappear in about ten minutes flat.

Tips for transporting 4th of July desserts

If you are bringing desserts to someone else's party this year, here are my best tips for getting everything there safely, beautifully, and still tasting great.

Use a sheet pan with tall sides for bar desserts and slab cakes. Bar cookies, brownies, rice crispy treats, and sheet cakes all travel really well when they are kept right in the pan they were baked in. Cover tightly with foil or plastic wrap and they will stay fresh and intact all the way to the party.

Invest in a good insulated carrier. An insulated bag or a carrier designed specifically for 13x9 pans is worth every penny if you bring food to parties regularly. It keeps cold desserts cold and keeps everything level so nothing slides around.

Transport layered desserts in individual cups or jars. If you are making a trifle, a layered pudding dessert, or anything that involves whipped cream and berries, portion them into individual mason jars or clear plastic cups before you leave the house. They travel so much better than one big bowl, they are ready to grab and go at the party, and they look adorable on a dessert table.

Keep cream-based desserts cold until the very last minute. Anything with whipped cream, cream cheese frosting, or ice cream needs to stay cold. Use a cooler with ice packs for transport and only pull it out to set up right before you are ready to serve. Do not leave these sitting in a hot car or on a table in direct sun.

Bring a cake carrier for layered cakes. If you are making a layer cake or a flag cake, a proper cake carrier is the only way to transport it without disaster. They are inexpensive and they protect all that beautiful frosting and decoration from getting smashed. A simple one from Amazon works just as well as anything fancy.

Pre-slice bars and brownies before you go. Do your cutting at home before you leave. It is so much easier to slice cleanly in your own kitchen than it is to try to cut brownies on a wobbly table at a party. Transfer the pre-cut pieces to a flat container or a sheet pan lined with parchment and cover. Done.

Pack a small toolkit. Toss a cake server, a few extra napkins, a small offset spatula, and any serving utensils you will need into a zip-top bag before you leave. Nothing is worse than showing up with a beautiful dessert and nothing to serve it with.

Label everything if you are bringing multiple items. If you are the person showing up with three different desserts (no judgment, that is absolutely a power move), label each container with a small piece of masking tape so there is no confusion about what is what when it is time to set up the dessert table.

    Pin it for later!
