If you're looking for easy 2-ingredient summer cocktails, you have to try this tequila lemonade. It's refreshing, simple, and perfect to sip on while relaxing on your patio on a warm summer night.
You'll love this tequila lemonade
It's so easy to make. With two ingredients, this tequila lemonade couldn't be easier to make!
It's refreshing. I mean, what is more refreshing than lemonade on a hot summer day? And pairing it with tequila? I am so in.
It can be made as a batched cocktail. Since there are no carbonated ingredients, this is the perfect drink if you are looking for a big batch cocktail for your next summer bbq.
Ingredients
When I say this requires two simple ingredients, it does! That's why I love this drink it's so easy!
Tequila. I used reposado tequila for this recipe, but you can use whatever tequila you have at home! No matter what type of tequila you use, this will still be such a refreshing drink.
Lemonade. I opted for store-bought lemonade. I love Simply Lemonade, and I do buy the Simply Light Lemonade. They also have a raspberry flavor, too! However, if you really want to take this tequila lemonade recipe to the next level, you can make yourself a batch of fresh-squeezed lemonade.
Note: If you're wondering what would make this a lemonade margarita, you would have to add triple sec, and I personally still like adding lime to a lemonade margarita. However, no need to add the agave nectar because the lemonade is naturally sweet, so that'll make it a bit too sweet!
How to make a tequila lemonade
- In a glass filled with ice, add 2.5 oz tequila and 4-5 oz lemonade.
- Give it a stir, garnish, and cheers!
Substitutions and variations
Fresh Fruit. One of the reasons I love this recipe is because it is delicious as it is, but it's also a great recipe to tweak and have some fun with! You can easily turn this simple recipe into a fruity lemonade tequila with all your favorite summer fruits like fresh blackberries, strawberries, or even peaches.
Spicy Tequila Lemonade. If you want a little kick to your tequila lemonade, you have a few options! You can use jalapeno-infused tequila, you can muddle jalapenos with lemonade, or you can use a few dashes of habanero bitters.
Fruit Syrups. One of my favorite ways to use fruit, especially if it's on its last leg, is by making fruit simple syrups. I've made this raspberry simple syrup and that would be such a fun addition to this recipe.
Lemonade. If you don't have lemonade, but you have lemon and sugar, you can still easily make this drink! Juice your lemon and then make a homemade simple syrup by mixing together equal parts sugar and hot water. Stir the sugar and hot water until the sugar dissolves, and then pour the lemon juice and simple syrup into your glass along with tequila.
What tequila is best for a mixed drink?
It depends on the type of mixed drink! I like to use blanco tequila, or silver tequila, for fruity margaritas. Blanco tequila tends to have more of a citrus flavor, and it's unaged, so there isn't the flavor influence of oak barrels. However, I also love making this lemonade cocktail with reposado tequila, which is a slightly aged tequila. However, for this tequila cocktail, you really can't go wrong with any type of tequila.
Garnish ideas
- Lemon Wedge
- Sugar Rim
- Lemon Wheel
- Candied Lemon Peel
