I love a simple overnight oats recipe. It takes a few minutes to make every night and then it is so nice having breakfast ready for you in the morning. These peanut butter overnight oats are one of my favorite overnight oats variations to make right now.

These overnight oats with chia seeds are my go-to overnight oats recipe.

It’s an easy breakfast recipe. It takes 5 minutes to make these oats, and they will keep you full and energized all morning long.

You’ll love having breakfast ready in the morning. This is truly my favorite thing about these overnight oats. I love having a well-rounded breakfast ready for me when I wake up. I am always starving and don't have the patience to make anything else!

It's only 4 ingredients. The ingredients are super affordable, and you can buy everything but the milk in bulk!

What oats are best for overnight oats?

I like to use old-fashioned rolled oats for overnight oats! If you use steel-cut oats, the oats will be too hard the next morning. You'll be crunching on pebbles, trust me. Quick oats are also made differently so if you use quick oats, they will get too soggy.

    Ingredients

Rolled Oats. Rolled Oats are the best option for this recipe, you can get them in bulk from your favorite grocery store. I buy mine from ALDI.

Chia Seeds. Similar to rolled oats, you can get chia seeds at any grocery store or off Amazon.

Peanut Butter. In the photo above, I have two kinds of peanut butter. I do not use both, but I wanted to show you the options! I much prefer the PB2 peanut butter, simply because the powder mixes much easier than the creamy peanut butter from Trader Joe's. However, you can use whatever peanut butter you have and/or prefer!

Milk. I normally use almond milk, but I recently found Mooala at ALDI, so I have been doing half almond milk and half Mooala. Mooala is "milk" made from bananas. I don't love it solo, but I love the banana and cinnamon taste it adds to my overnight oats.

Do you eat overnight oats cold or hot?

Cold! I take them out of the fridge, mix them, top them with some sort of fruit and honey and enjoy! Don't be weirded out from eating cold oatmeal, it's more like pudding.

Can you eat overnight oats hot?

You certainly can, I wouldn't recommend it, though.

How do you make peanut butter overnight oats?

    1. In a jar, pour in your oats, chia seeds, peanut butter and milk.
    2. Seal your jar and give your oats a good shake.
    3. Place in the fridge for a minimum of 6 hours, but ideally overnight.
    4. The next morning, take your oats out and give them a stir.
    5. Top with ½ cup of fruit, of choice, honey and cinnamon

How long do overnight oats last?

I would say 3 days in the fridge. You could absolutely make a batch for Monday - Friday, but if you're looking to meal prep, I would make 3 days at a time.
