Gin. You'll want a dry gin to pair nicely with the sweetness of the lemonade, I like Bombay Sapphire, Citadelle Gin, Hendrick's Gin, or Tanqueray Gin.
Lemonade. You can use store-bought lemonade or make your own homemade lemonade recipe.
Basic homemade lemonade recipe
This homemade lemonade recipe makes 55 ounces, so enough for 11 cocktails.
Ingredients
- 2 cups white sugar
- 1 ½ cup fresh lemon juice
- 5 cups of water divided into 2 cups of water and 3 cups of water.
Directions
- In a pot over medium heat, stir your sugar and water together until the water has melted. This becomes simple syrup.
- Combine your simple syrup, lemon juice, and 3 cups of water in a large pitcher.
- Refrigerate until cold and then give it a taste test and adjust as needed.
How to make a gin and lemonade
- In a highball glass with fresh ice, add 2 ounces of gin. Top with 5 ounces of lemonade.
- Stir, garnish and cheers.
Garnish ideas for this gin and lemonade
- Lemon: lemon slices, a lemon wedge, lemon twists, or a lemon wheel are always aesthetically pleasing.
- Herbs: basil leaves, fresh rosemary sprigs, or a mint sprig are always pretty options.
How to make it into a pitcher
To make 8 servings of gin and lemonades.
- In a large pitcher, pour in 1 ½ cups gin and 5 cups of lemonade.
- Store in the fridge until you are ready to serve.
- To serve, pour into a glass over ice and enjoy!
Variations
Club Soda. If you want to cut the sweetness or the calories, you can add 3-4 ounces of lemonade and then top with 1-2 ounces of soda water.
Tonic Water. Alternatively, if you want to just add a splash of tonic, or diet tonic, you can use the same measurement as above.
Rose Water. If you want to get really fancy with your homemade lemonade, you can make this homemade rose water lemonade and then garnish with some rose petals.
Cucumber. You can muddle some fresh cucumber to make a refreshing cucumber lemonade and gin cocktail.
