You'll love these air fryer frozen sweet potato fries
It's such an easy side dish. If you are looking for a quick side dish for your next weeknight meal, you'll love these delicious sweet potato fries.
They turn out perfect. The cooking process of the air fryer circulates hot air around the basket, giving you such crispy sweet potato fries with so much less oil than deep frying!
There's no prep. Since these are frozen, there's no prep time! Other than allowing time for your air fryer to preheat, these are the perfect easy side dish.
Ingredients
Frozen Sweet Potato Fries. You can use whatever brand is your favorite or whatever is on sale. If you are looking for some direction, I recommend Alexia sweet potato fries.
Non-Stick Cooking Spray. Even if your air fryer claims to be non-stick, I always recommend spraying with a non-stick cooking oil spray. If you don't have that, you can rub a little oil around with a paper towel. This just gives you that extra layer to make sure none of the fries stick to the basket.
Seasonings. An easy way to make these frozen fries your own is by tossing them in some seasoning! This is totally optional, but I included some seasonings below that would make for some delicious fries.
How to make air fryer frozen sweet potato fries
The great thing about this air fryer fries recipe is that it's so hands-off. Other than shaking the air fryer basket halfway through cooking, there's nothing needed on your end!
- Preheat your air fryer to 400F. If your air fryer doesn't have a preheat setting, place it at 400F and let it run, empty, for 5 minutes. Cooking in a preheated air fryer will give you the best results.
- Add in your sweet potato fries. The amount of fries will vary based on the size of your air fryer basket. Fill the basket with the frozen fries, fill it just enough so the bottom of the basket is covered. Try not to overlap, but if there is, that's ok!
- Air fry for 6 minutes at 400F. Shake. Air fry for 6 more minutes. Cook for an additional 2 minutes depending on your air fryer and preference.
- Allow to cool for a few minutes and pair it with your favorite dipping sauce to enjoy.
Note: The cooking time may vary depending on the type of air fryer you have. If you want fries that are extra crispy fries, you can cook them for an additional 3-5 minutes.
Why are my sweet potato fries not crispy in the air fryer?
You may be overcrowding your air fryer basket. To make the best frozen sweet potato fries in the air fryer, you have to make sure that they are in a single layer and that you aren't filling the basket with too many fries. The fries need space to cook and crisp! If you don't give them space you'll end up with soggy fries.
Variations
You can have some fun with different seasonings for your sweet potato fries! Here are a few of my favorites.
- Garlic Powder or Garlic Salt
- Chili Powder
- Italian Seasoning
- Sea Salt + Black Pepper
- Red Pepper Flakes
- Cinnamon Sugar
Dipping sauces for sweet potato fries
- Dill Pickle Ranch - if you are a fellow pickle lover, this will soon become your favorite sauce to dip everything in.
- Sriracha Ketchup - it's as easy as it sounds. I love mixing together sriracha with ketchup for a spicy dip.
- Honey Mustard - I love the sweet and tangy combination of honey mustard paired with the sweet and savory sweet potato fries.
- BBQ Sauce - whatever is your favorite, similar to the honey mustard the sweet, smokey, and slightly spicy taste of the BBQ sauce compliments the sweet and savory flavors of the sweet potato fries.
- Garlic Aioli - I mean, what doesn't garlic aioli taste good with? It's so easy to make homemade, too!
What to serve with sweet potato fries?
There are so many recipes that these sweet potato fries go with, you can serve them alongside an air fryer grilled cheese, chicken bacon ranch sliders, chicken burgers, or these crispy garlic parmesan chicken wings.
Storing and reheating
Store any leftover sweet potato fries in an airtight container in the fridge for 3-5 days. Do not refreeze the sweet potato fries once they are cooked! To reheat the leftover fries, preheat your air fryer to 350F. Toss the fries in a little bit of olive oil and air fry at 350F for 5-7 minutes.
FAQs

You can put frozen french fries in the air fryer at 400F for 12-15 minutes.

You don't, but I do recommend shaking halfway through cooking.

I prefer them in the air fryer! The high temperatures and cooking method of the air fryer gives a much crispier french fry as opposed to cooking them in the oven.
