If you love margaritas, tequila, and easy martini recipes, you are going to love this tequila daisy recipe. It's such a delightful concoction that is so easy to make.

You'll love this tequila daisy recipe

It's easy to make. With a few simple ingredients, this zesty cocktail can be made in no time.

It's simple and delicious. This is such a refreshing drink to make for any occasion! Whether you're looking for Cinco de Mayo drink recipes, or a cocktail perfect for a hot summer day.
It can be made into a batched cocktail. Because this recipe only calls for a top-off of club soda, you can easily make this into a batched cocktail.

    Ingredients

Tequila. I use blanco tequila for this recipe, it's the most user-friendly, in my opinion, and it's a great base for any mixed drink you're making with tequila.

Grand Marnier. This is an orange liqueur, if you don't have Grand Marnier, you can use triple sec.

Lemon Juice. Lemon juice, or any citrus juice really, adds a sweet yet zesty flavor that pairs perfectly with the sweetness of orange liqueur and bite of tequila.

Simple Syrup. Just to add a bit of sweetness to this cocktail to counterbalance the sourness of the lemon juice, I add just a little bit of simple syrup. If you want to make this like a true margarita martini type of recipe, you can use agave nectar.

Club Soda. Just for a little finish, top your prepared drink with a splash of club sod!

How to make this tequila daisy recipe

    1. In a cocktail shaker, add 2 oz tequila, ½ oz Grand Marnier, ½ oz lemon juice, and ½ oz simple syrup.
    2. Add ice and shake until chilled.
    3. Strain into a cocktail glass, top with a splash of soda water, and enjoy!

Why is it called a tequila daisy?

The tequila daisy cocktail was said to be created by a man by the name of Madden, and it was created by accident. He apparently picked up the wrong bottle, that bottle being tequila, and the drink was loved by all. Coincidentally, daisy also is the Spanish word for margarita.

    Substitution and variations

Tequila. You can use reposado or anejo tequila, those are both aged tequilas so you'll get that oaky aged taste in your cocktail.

Club Soda. You can also used flavored sparkling water, like lime or lemon, to add a little extra flavor burst.

Fresh Citrus Juice. If you don't have lemons, you can use fresh lime juice, grapefruit juice, or orange juice.

Making this tequila daisy recipe for a crowd

This is such an easy martini recipe to make for a crowd! I recommend placing a bottle of club soda next to the pitcher so when people serve themselves they can add a splash of club soda. This ensures that the club soda stays fresh and you get that fizz. Here's how to make 10 batches of this cocktail.

    1. In a large pitcher, add 2.5 cups of tequila, 5 oz triple sec (or Grand Marnier), 5 oz citrus juice, and 5 oz simple syrup. Stir and chill in the fridge until you're ready to serve.
    2. To serve 1 cocktail, pour 3.5 oz into a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake until chilled and strain into a martini glass. Add a splash of club soda and cheers!

    FAQs

What is the difference between a margarita and a tequila daisy?

A margarita is served over ice and a tequila daisy is like a martini version of a margarita served strained in a martini glass.
