I love a good spicy margarita for the summertime, and this cucumber jalapeno margarita does not disappoint. It's perfectly refreshing with a bit of heat and is such an easy drink recipe.

This is such a refreshing summer cocktail recipe.

Itโ€™s the perfect balance of sweet, and crisp with a bit of spice at the end. Anything with fresh cucumber is so refreshing, pair it with a bit of sour from the lime, spice from fresh jalapenos and the perfect amount of sweetness from margarita mix, it is the perfect summer cocktail!

Itโ€™s an easy tequila cocktail recipe. Using some fresh produce, margarita mix and tequila, this is such an easy margarita recipe!

Itโ€™s a low-calorie margarita. I like using a low-calorie margarita mix alongside cucumber juice to make this a low-calorie margarita recipe.

Itโ€™s easy to make in batches if needed. It is so easy to make this into a batch margarita recipe if you want to make it for a party.

i love a good spicy margarita for the summertime, and this cucumber jalapeno margarita does not disappoint.

Ingredients needed for this easy margarita recipe

Here's what you need to make this cucumber jalapeno margarita recipe.

Fresh Cucumbers - I like to use Persian cucumbers, but you can use whatever cucumbers you have on hand, or in the garden!

Fresh Jalapeno - There is nothing like the flavor of fresh jalapeno, so I do not recommend subbing out canned jalapenos in this recipe.

Fresh Lime - I add fresh lime to any cocktail I can.

Margarita Mix - I find this nice to add just a hint of sweetness to offset the spiciness of the jalapeno, and complement the refreshing cucumber flavor.

Cucumber Juice - Since we're using fresh, muddled cucumbers, I like to add just a bit of fresh cucumber juice to emphasize the cucumber flavor.

Tequila - Of course you need tequila! I suggest using a Blanco tequila for this spicy margarita recipe.

What tequila is best for spicy margaritas?

I always recommend using Blanco for margarita recipes, especially spicy margaritas. Blanco is not an aged tequila, like Reposado or Aรฑejo, so it allows the flavors of your margarita to be the stars of the show.

You can absolutely use Reposado for margaritas, but you'll get that richer, aged taste. You'll notice that in these photos I used Reposado tequila, and it is delicious! Reposado tequila is aged for anywhere from two months to a year in barrels prior to being bottled. That's where the golden hue and the richer flavor come from.

Aรฑejo is tequila that is aged for anywhere from one to three years and is truly made to be sipped on. So, I would recommend not making a margarita with Aรฑejo tequila, and rather pour it over ice and enjoy it straight.

How to make a cucumber jalapeno margarita? It's so simple and so refreshing! One of the best summer margarita recipes.

How to make a cucumber jalapeno margarita?

It's pretty simple, but I will say you're going to want a cocktail muddler for this one.

    • In your glass, muddle together 2 jalapeno slices, ยฝ lime (juiced) and about 3 tbsp of thinly sliced cucumber. This was roughly an inch of the Persian cucumber.
    • Once the cucumbers are broken down, add in your ice. Top with 2 oz. of tequila, 2 oz. of margarita mix and 1-2 oz. of cucumber juice.
    • Give it a stir, garnish and enjoy!

    Can you buy cucumber juice?

At some grocery stores, yes. I know my local Jewel sells fresh juices and you can get cucumber juice there. Also, if you live by a juice shop, that could be an option.

How do you make cucumber juice?

There are a handful of ways that you can make cucumber juice at home. Alphafoodie shared her top 3 ways for making homemade cucumber juice.

What tequila is best for spicy margaritas? I always recommend using blanco tequila for spicy margaritas.

    How do you muddle properly?

Seems like a very obvious answer, but here are some tips for muddling fresh produce and herbs for your cocktails.

Twist the flavor out. Don't constantly pound the muddler, instead press down and twist the flavor out. Pounding could cause the flavors to turn bitter.

Use a sturdy glass, or when in doubt, use a cocktail shaker. When you're muddling you're not necessarily taking it easy on the glassware, so you want to make sure you have a solid glass that can withstand the pressure, or when in doubt use a cocktail shaker.

How to muddle without a muddler?

Sometimes, you don't have a muddler, it happens. I recommend using a wooden spoon if that's the case.

What a delightfully refreshing drink for the Summer. Sounds fantastic. I'm like you, I like some heat in my margaritas. And I love that you used a low-calorie margarita mix along with the cucumber juice to make it more of a skinny cocktail. I didn't even know you could buy cucumber juice. So interesting. Thanks so much for sharing.
