I use a combination of vodka, grenadine, sour mix, bitters and club soda to make this classic cocktail.
Ingredients
Unlike the classic vodka sour, there is no egg white in this ingredient list! Let's get into this sour cocktail recipe.
Vodka. What vodka you use is up to you, I recommend using regular vodka. A brand like Tito's or Smirnoff is always a good go-to.
Grenadine. You can use grenadine or juice from maraschino cherries. It adds a perfectly sweet cherry flavor.
Sour Mix. You can easily make a homemade sour mix, just mix together equal parts fresh lemon juice and lime juice and simple syrup. You'll add half the amount of simple syrup. For example, if you add 1 oz. lemon juice and 1 oz. lime juice, you'll add .5 oz. simple syrup.
Bitters. I love adding just a splash of Angostura bitters to add a hint of citrus taste.
Club Soda. Now, this isn't in a traditional cherry vodka sour recipe, I like to top mine off with a bit of club soda to add some fizz and make it an extra crisp drink.
Maraschino Cherry. You'll garnish with one (or a few) of these, they're an absolute must!
Variations
Cherry Vodka. If you want a real cherry flavor in your drink, you can make this cocktail with cherry vodka. You can buy cherry vodka or make it with fresh cherries.
Without Club Soda. I just prefer to add club soda, I like a fizz in my cocktails. If you would rather just have this straight on the rocks without club soda, you can do that, too!
