What is halloumi cheese?
Halloumi is a salty cheese made of a combination of goat's milk and sheep's milk. It's a traditional cheese hailing from the Eastern Mediterranean island of Cyprus. It's similar to mozzarella cheese, but a bit more rubbery when it's cold. It's perfect for grilling or heating up because it doesn't lose its form due to its high melting point. Its firm texture makes it perfect to cook up without totally melting! You can eat it cold, but it has a rubbery texture. The best way to eat it is either by air frying, grilling, or pan-frying.

Ingredients
Halloumi. The brand of halloumi doesn't matter. I tend to get halloumi from either ALDI or Trader Joe's.
Extra Virgin Olive Oil. You'll want just a little olive oil to spray or spread on top to make sure the halloumi doesn't stick to the basket of the air fryer. If you don't have olive oil, any cooking spray will work.

- Add your halloumi slices to the air fryer basket, make sure they are in a single layer, and spray olive oil, or any cooking oil spray, on top.
- Air fry at 370F for 6 minutes, and after those 6 minutes, flip and air fry for an additional 6 minutes.
- Your halloumi will be golden brown and ready to serve!
Variations
Herbs. Add some flavor to your halloumi by sprinkling some black pepper, garlic powder, cajun seasoning, a little dried thyme, smoked paprika, Italian seasoning, or anything else that you're craving on either side of the sticks of halloumi cheese prior to cooking.
Halloumi fries. You may see halloumi fries in your local grocery store. You can absolutely take this recipe and make air fryer halloumi fries with it!
Make a crust. If you want super crispy, almost chicken tender-like, air fryer halloumi, slice your halloumi block into thick slices and then dredge them in plain flour (all-purpose flour, gluten-free flour or rice flour are all great options) and you'll have halloumi sticks that are similar to mozzarella sticks!
How to serve air fryer halloumi
Bruschetta. Grab some cherry tomatoes and fresh basil from your garden, and chop everything up and serve with slices of baguettes. You can also add peaches or strawberries to this bruschetta mix, it's delicious and such a great summer twist!
Dips. This is the perfect cheese to pair with your favorite dipping sauce. Marinara, sweet chili sauce, a drizzle of honey, or honey mustard dressing are all great options.
Tacos. Use a piece of halloumi as a base for your taco and it is so delicious and vegetarian!
Burgers. Want an extra cheesy and delicious burger? Add a thick slice of halloumi on top of your burger and it's so good!
Where to buy halloumi cheese
You can find a block of halloumi almost anywhere! ALDI sells it during the summer months, but you can find it at Trader Joe's, too.
Storing and reheating air fryer halloumi
You'll want to store your air fryer halloumi in an airtight container in the fridge. When you're reading to eat it again, you can pop it back in the air fryer at 350F for 4-5 minutes.
