It's so flavorful. It's the perfect blend of sweet pineapple flavor paired with the sweetness of grenadine and the zest of fresh lime juice that make for such delicious tropical flavors.
Ingredients
With some basic ingredients, you'll be able to make this pineapple vodka cocktail whenever you want! One thing I love the most about his tasty cocktail is how shelf-stable a lot of the ingredients are. I always love having small cans of pineapple juice on my home bar to make this, or a pineapple margarita, whenever I want.
Pineapple Juice. You can make your own homemade pineapple juice if you want, but to make this an easy cocktail, I recommend using store-bought pineapple juice.
Grenadine. You only need a splash of grenadine but it adds the perfect amount of sweetness to complement the sweetness of the pineapple juice and lime flavors.
Lime Juice. Whatever you do, do not use fake lime juice! Limes are so affordable and so easy to juice. For all my drink recipes I recommend using fresh lime juice.
Vodka. In regards to the kind of vodka, I recommend using whatever brand is your personal preference. For this recipe, I used plain vodka, but there are some other ideas for drink variations below!
How to make a pineapple vodka cocktail
- In your glass, add your pineapple juice, grenadine, lime juice, and vodka.
- Add ice cubes to a chilled cocktail glass, stir, and garnish.
- Cheers!
How to juice a pineapple
If you really want to upgrade your pineapple vodka drinks, here's how to juice a pineapple.
- The Juicer. You can use a juicer if you want. Simply slice off the skin and remove the core. Cut your pineapple into chunks (or whatever will fit into your juicer) and then you have pineapple juice!
- The Blender. If you don't have a juicer, you can also use your blender! Simply slice off the skin and remove the core. Cut your pineapple into chunks and blend until smooth. Run your juice through a fine mesh strainer and then you have pineapple juice!
Garnish ideas
It's always fun to add a tropical garnish to the top of the drink, even if you're just drinking at home! Here are some garnish ideas to top your pineapple juice cocktail.
- Pineapple wedge or pineapple slice
- Maraschino cherry
- Lime wedge
- Sugared rim
How to sugar the rim of a cocktail glass
It's always fun, and aesthetically pleasing to add sugar to the rim of the glass for this pineapple vodka cocktail.
- Pour sugar onto a small plate and set aside.
- Using a lime, wet the rim of the glass.
- Dip your rim onto your plate with sugar and continue to dip and stir until the rim is well coated.
- You have a rimmed glass ready or a cocktail!
Substitutions and variations
Pineapple Martini. This can easily be made into a pineapple martini, simply take all your ingredients, add them to an ice-filled cocktail shaker, shake until frosted and then strain into a chilled martini glass.
Juices. If you don't like or don't have pineapple juice, you can swap it out with another fruit juice! That won't make it a pineapple vodka cocktail, but it'll still be delicious. Here are some juices: cranberry juice, fresh orange juice, passion fruit juice, or mango nectar.
Sparkling water. I do love a little bit of fizz in cocktails, if you want to make this into a sparkling cocktail, you can add a splash of club soda or even prosecco.
Simple Syrup. If you don't have grenadine, you can simply add simple syrup.
Vodka Flavors. You can use flavored vodka like vanilla vodka, coconut vodka, or pineapple-infused vodka.
Other liquors. You can also use coconut rum, tequila or white rum.
Lemon. No lime? Add some lemon juice and this turns from a pineapple vodka limeade recipe to a fun pineapple vodka lemonade recipe.
Can I make this ahead of time?
Yes, you can! You can absolutely make this classic cocktail ahead of time. I would recommend not making this more than 24 hours in advance.
