You'll love this cucumber jalapeno margarita
It's so refreshing. One of my favorite things is cucumber jalapeño margaritas on a hot summer day. It's such a refreshing cocktail with the cool, fresh cucumber and spicy jalapeno, you'll love these delicious margaritas.
It's easy to make. Seriously so easy! With a few fresh ingredients, you can whip this cocktail together in no time.
It can be made into a batched cocktail. Since there are no carbonated ingredients, you can easily make this recipe into a pitcher of margaritas perfect for your next happy hour.
Ingredients
Cucumber Slices. I muddle cucumbers in this recipe, however, if you want to make cucumber juice, that's a great option, too. Simply blend cucumber slices in a blender, pour them through a fine mesh strainer and you have cucumber juice.
Jalapeno Slices. Whether you leave the seeds in or out is up to you! If you like a really spicy cucumber margarita recipe, I recommend leaving the seeds in. If you want just a little heat, I recommend leaving only a few seeds in the mix. However, you have to have fresh jalapeno for this recipe! It isn't the same without it.
Fresh Lime Juice. To add a bit of zest to this margarita recipe, I always add a bit of fresh lime juice. I highly recommend using real lime juice as opposed to that fake store-bought lime juice.
Light Agave Syrup. I like including light agave syrup to balance out the sour sweetness of the lime, the flavor of the cool cucumber, and the spicy jalapeno.
Triple Sec. Triple sec is an orange liqueur that adds a citrus sweetness to margaritas. You can also use Grand Marnier, which is a more expensive cousin to triple sec.
Tequila. I recommend making any margarita with silver tequila, otherwise known as blanco tequila. It isn't aged, unlike the other tequila varieties, so it has a very basic flavor and is the perfect tequila to complement all the other flavors in this cucumber jalapeño margarita recipe.
How to make a cucumber jalapeno margarita
- In your glass, muddle together 2 jalapeno slices, ½ lime (juiced), and about 3 tablespoons of thinly sliced cucumber. This was roughly an inch of the Persian cucumber.
- Once the cucumbers are broken down, add in your ice. Top with 2 oz. of tequila, 2 oz. of margarita mix, and 1-2 oz. of cucumber juice.
- Give it a stir, garnish and enjoy!
What tequila is best for spicy margaritas?
I always recommend using Blanco for margarita recipes, especially spicy margaritas. Blanco is not an aged tequila, like Reposado or Añejo, so it allows the flavors of your margarita to be the stars of the show.
You can absolutely use Reposado for margaritas, but you'll get that richer, aged taste. You'll notice that in these photos I used Reposado tequila, and it is delicious! Reposado tequila is aged for anywhere from two months to a year in barrels prior to being bottled. That's where the golden hue and the richer flavor come from.
Añejo is tequila that is aged for anywhere from one to three years and is truly made to be sipped on. So, I would recommend not making a margarita with Añejo tequila, and rather pour it over ice and enjoy it straight.
Substitutions and variations
Coconut Water. You can make this into a spicy cucumber coconut water margarita by adding 2 oz. of coconut water to this recipe.
Agave Nectar. If you don't have agave nectar, you can substitute it for simple syrup or honey syrup.

What a delightfully refreshing drink for the Summer. Sounds fantastic. I'm like you, I like some heat in my margaritas. And I love that you used a low-calorie margarita mix along with the cucumber juice to make it more of a skinny cocktail. I didn't even know you could buy cucumber juice. So interesting. Thanks so much for sharing.
