Ingredients
Pastry Puff. I purchase store-bought puff pastry, however, if you are feeling adventurous, you can make your own homemade pastry puff.
Cinnamon. Of course, for a cinnamon twists recipe, you'll need cinnamon.
Brown Sugar. I recommend using brown sugar over white sugar. It pairs so well with the cinnamon and gives you the best results.
Butter. This is what will give the pastry puff a beautiful golden brown color and make the cinnamon sugar mixture stick to the pastry puff itself.

No! You should always bring your sheet of puff pastry to room temperature before cooking or baking it.
What are the secrets to using puff pastry?
You have to use a floured surface to roll out your pastry puff sheet, and be sure to dust off any excess flour before you start baking with it.
Tips for making the best cinnamon puff pastry twists
Parchment Paper. If you want to make cleaning 10 times easier, put parchment paper on your baking tray.
Leftover Cinnamon Sugar. When you twist dough, you're going to have residual cinnamon sugar fall off. Sprinkle that leftover sugar mix on the top.
Storage and reheating
Store leftover cinnamon twists in an airtight container in the fridge for 3-5 days.
To reheat, brush a bit of melted butter on them and let them bake for a few minutes in the oven at 300F.
FAQ
Should you roll out frozen puff pastry?
No! If you don't wait until the puff pastry is thawed, you risk possibly breaking the puff pastry sheet.
Can you bake puff pastry without thawing?
You cannot! Ready-made puff pastry needs to be thawed before baking.
Is puff pastry the same as phyllo dough?
It is not! Puff pastry has more butter and you get the flaky pastry from the layers of butter. Phyllo dough is low fat and you get layers by layering sheets of phyllo dough.
