What is Burrata?
Burrata is an Italian cheese made from mozzarella and cream. It's extra creamy and rich mozzarella, and it is so delicious.

How is burrata different from mozzarella?
Burrata is half mozzarella. What I mean by this is mozzarella serves as the outside shell of Burrata and inside the shell is this creamy, slightly curdy cheese. So, mozzarella is simply mozzarella and burrata is mozzarella outside with creamy cheese inside.
Where to buy burrata?
You can get it at almost any grocery store! I get mine from Trader Joe's.
Ingredients
Here's what you'll need for homemade burrata pizza.
Pizza Dough. I love Trader Joe's or ALDI pizza dough. However, if you want to make your own, my family has been making Bobby Flay's recipe for at least the last 10 years.
Olive Oil. I always pre-bake pizza dough, my mom has been doing that, so that's what I do. When I pre-bake it, I brush it with a bit of olive oil and sprinkle some herbs on top.
Granulated Garlic, Oregano and Red Pepper Flakes. This is my go-to seasoning blend for pizza. Optional, and highly recommended, is also adding some ground fennel to the mix.
Pizza Sauce. We just buy jarred or canned pizza sauce, but if you want a simple homemade recipe, here's a super simple pizza sauce recipe.
Mozzarella. Yes, you'll still need mozzarella for this recipe! I recommend using shredded mozzarella.
Burrata. Of course, you need burrata if we're making burrata pizza! And no, you can't sub out fresh mozzarella for burrata, go and get yourself some burrata.
Fresh Basil. This is a must for any pizza!
Tips for making the best homemade burrata pizza.
Pre-bake your pizza crust. This is necessary to avoid soggy crust! It allows the crust to cook and get slightly crispy, and then it'll finish cooking once you have the toppings on.
Fresh basil is a must. This is necessary for any pizza night. Put it on your pizza as it's ready to serve and it's the perfect topping.
Have fun with toppings! Burrata goes with so much, so this is the perfect pizza to have some fun with.
