You'll love these air fryer cinnamon rolls
No oven is required! When it's hot out, or you're trying to quickly get a batch of cinnamon rolls on the table, the last thing you want to do is sit there and wait for the oven to preheat. Luckily, it's so easy to cook canned cinnamon rolls in the air fryer, and you seriously get the perfect cinnamon roll in way less time.
Make small batches of cinnamon rolls. Only want one or two? No need to make all of the cinnamon rolls in the pack. With the air fryer, it is even easier to simply preheat it for a few minutes and make yourself one or two cinnamon rolls.
They're done in minutes. 6-8 minutes, depending on your air fryer is all it takes for these delicious cinnamon rolls to be done.
Ingredients
Canned Cinnamon Rolls. There are a few different brands of canned cinnamon rolls, but you can't go wrong with Pillsbury if you're looking for some guidance! I have only tried this recipe with store-bought cinnamon rolls, not homemade cinnamon rolls. Pillsbury Grands cinnamon rolls are always a hit.
Non-Stick Cooking Spray. To be sure your cinnamon rolls don't stick to the air fryer basket, I recommend spraying it with non-stick cooking spray. I recommend using a non-stick spray for all your air fryer recipes. The last thing you want is to ruin a recipe with it sticking to the basket.
How to make air fryer cinnamon rolls
- Preheat the air fryer to 360F, if your air fryer doesn't have a preheat capability, set it at 360F and let it run for 4 minutes.
- Spray the air fryer basket with non-stick cooking spray.
- Place your cinnamon rolls in the basket.
- Cook in your preheated air fryer at 360F for 8 minutes.
- Take out of the basket and transfer to plate.
- Top with icing and enjoy!
Note: the cooking time may vary based on the size and type of air fryer you have. I recommend checking your cinnamon rolls at 8 minutes and if they are not golden brown cook them in additional 1-minute intervals until they are golden brown and cooked perfectly.
What's the best air fryer to buy?
Tips for the perfect air fryer cinnamon rolls
Preheating your air fryer. Cooking with your air fryer is like cooking with an oven. Whatever you are cooking, you want to place it in the air fryer basket and have it start cooking at the necessary temperature. If your air fryer doesn't have a preheat setting, I always recommend letting it run, empty, at whatever temperature you need for 5 minutes. This will get you the best results no matter what you cook.
Single layer. Now this is such an easy recipe, but to get the best air fryer cinnamon rolls, you want to make sure that there is no overlap.
Frost and serve right away. You want to serve warm rolls, so I always recommend making these and serving them right away! That's just my personal preference but the best part of a cinnamon roll is biting into the warm roll with the vanilla glaze on top! It's the perfect treat.
Substitutions and variations
Homemade Cream Cheese Frosting. The easiest way to elevate your air fryer cinnamon rolls is by making a homemade glaze. It is so easy to do. Just combine 1 cup of powdered sugar with 2-4 tablespoon of milk or cream and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract.
Sprinkles. Who doesn't love a Funfetti sprinkle moment? Top these fluffy air fryer cinnamon rolls with some fun rainbow sprinkles for a fun and delicious treat.
Cinnamon Roll Bites. Another great way to cook a tube of cinnamon rolls is by making cinnamon roll bites. Preheat your air fryer to 325F. Cut each cinnamon roll into fourths. Place the cinnamon roll bites in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Air fry for 3 minutes, flip and air fry for an additional 2-3 minutes. Toss in a mixture of cinnamon and brown sugar and serve with a side of vanilla glaze for dipping.
Storing and reheating leftover cinnamon rolls
If you have leftover air fryer cinnamon rolls, you can store them in an airtight container. If you have them covered in a glaze, I recommend storing them in the fridge. If they don't have a glaze on them, you can store them at room temperature. They're best if consumed within 2-3 days of cooking. To reheat, simply preheat the air fryer to 300F, and then cook them for 4 - 6 minutes.
What to serve with air fryer cinnamon rolls
If you're looking for some delicious coffee recipes to serve with these fluffy cinnamon rolls, you can't go wrong with a Nutella latte, strawberry latte, or dirty chai.
FAQs
Do I have to preheat my air fryer?
Yes! The air fryer cooking process works best when the air fryer is preheated. If your air fryer doesn't have a preheat setting, you can let it run on empty at whatever temperature you need it to be at for 5 minutes.
Are cinnamon rolls better in the air fryer?
I like cinnamon rolls when made in the oven or the air fryer. However, the air fryer is a great option if you don't want to turn your oven on, or if you want a quick and easy breakfast treat.
Can you put aluminum foil in an air fryer?
I don't recommend using aluminum foil in the air fryer. The air fryer cooks by circulating hot air around, and the aluminium foil will disrupt that air flow and you might not get the best results.
