These healthy air fryer carrot fries are one of the best healthy fries recipes. They are perfect for any weeknight dinner side dish recipe, and are one of the easiest ways to cook carrots!

You'll love these air fryer carrot fries

They're so easy to make. These air fryer carrot fries are such an easy air fryer recipe, you will love making them! If you are a fan of sweet potato fries, I bet you'll love these.

They're delicious. These are so good and such a tasty twist on the traditional french fry recipe. Plus, they are so delicious with dips like this dill pickle ranch.

They're an easy, and healthy, side dish. Since it's made in the air fryer, there's no deep frying going on! So you're eating crispy, cooked carrots with just a dash of olive oil and spices.

These healthy air fryer carrot fries are one of the best air fryer fries recipes. They are perfect for any weeknight dinner side dish recipe, and are one of the easiest ways to cook carrots!

    Ingredients

With a few simple ingredients, you can make these easy air fryer carrot fries that make for a great veggie side dish to so many weeknight dinner recipes or it's a great healthy snack.

Large Carrots. I like using large carrots, or regular carrots, as opposed to baby carrots for this recipe. I feel as though they are sturdier for a fry.

Olive Oil. I like to toss the fries in olive oil spray, but you can also use avocado oil. Avocado oil has a high smoke point so while you're air frying these carrot fries you'll still keep the health benefits of avocado oil.

Cornstarch. This is the key ingredient to get the best results when making any air fryer fries recipe. The cornstarch gives these healthy carrot fries that crunchy outside and soft inside with far less oil than deep frying.

Garlic Powder. I opted to use garlic powder as opposed to garlic salt to season these fries, but you can always use that, too!

Chili Powder. I love the combination of a slightly sweet carrot with the smoky spice of chili powder.

Onion Powder. I use a little bit of onion powder to round out my seasoning blend, but I included some more seasoning ideas for you to use for this simple recipe.

How do you cut carrots into fries

Cutting carrot fries is similar to cutting carrot sticks, except just a bit smaller.

    1. Start by cutting your carrot into 3 parts.
    2. Cut those 3 parts in half.
    3. Place the flat side down on your cutting board and cut into sticks.
    4. From there, cut each stick in half, and you have carrot fries ready for the air fryer!

How to make air fryer carrot fries

Here's how to make these crispy air fryer carrot fries.

    1. Preheat your air fryer to 360°F. If your air fryer doesn't have a preheat setting, simply let it run, empty, at 360F for 4 minutes.
    2. Peel and slice your carrots into fries. Place them in a large mixing bowl and toss them in oil, seasonings + corn starch.
    3. Pour your seasoned carrots into your air fryer basket. Make sure they are in a single layer. Depending on the size of your air fryer, you may need to make these in batches.
    4. Add to air fryer, once preheated, and cook for 7 minutes. Shake. Cook for 7 minutes again. The cooking time might depend on your air fryer, so you'll want to cook until they are a deep golden brown color.

How to make crispy carrot fries

The trick to getting crispier fries is using cornstarch! It takes these carrot fries to the next level. Whether I'm making traditional fries or these delicious carrot fries, I always coat air fryer fries in cornstarch to get that crisp.

What to serve with air fryer carrot fries

You can serve these carrot fries with anything you'd serve regular french fries with like these cheeseburger bowls, air fryer chicken sausage, or these chicken burgers in the air fryer.

    Seasoning and dipping sauces

I love the combination of chili + carrots. Whether I'm roasting chili carrots or making this carrot fries recipe, I keep my seasonings pretty simple with this recipe.

    • Chili Powder
    • Garlic Powder
    • Onion Powder
    • Salt
    • Pepper

As for dipping sauce, here are some of my favorites!

    • Ranch Dressing
    • BBQ Sauce
    • Garlic Aioli
    • Sriracha Mayo

You can also top them with some parmesan cheese to add a bit of flavor, too!

    Storing and reheating

Store your leftover carrot fries in an airtight container and to reheat them simply air fry them at 320 for 2-5 minutes.

    FAQs

Why are air fryer fries not crispy?

There is too much excess moisture! To be sure you get the crispiest air fryer fries, you'll want to pat your vegetables dry and use cornstarch.

Do I have to preheat my air fryer?

Yes! Think of your air fryer like an oven. For all the air fryer recipes you should be preheating. If your air fryer doesn't have a preheat setting, simply let it run empty at whatever temperature you need it to be at for 5 minutes.

Ummmm, I followed this recipe and my fries are not at all crispy. They're just cooked carrots. What am I doing wrong. My air fryer is in my oven. Does that make a difference

Oh no! I'm sorry to hear that. That may what is causing that... I have a separate air fryer that I use to make any fry. I wonder if increasing the temp that you cook the fries at would help crispen them up.

Delicious but I had to cook them in my air fryer much longer than recommended and then finished it off with a broil cuz I was impatient ? prob took about 15 mins in total in my air fryer. 10 at 360 shaking them up a bit cuz my air fryer is small, 5 broil 450 but when I do it again I’ll probably use a lower temp broil. Ty for the recipe!
