What is avocado sauce made of?

Greek Yogurt. Now, you can totally use sour cream, but I prefer to use Greek yogurt to add a bit of protein to this sauce.
Cilantro. Fresh cilantro is an absolute must! You can find it in the herb section of your local grocery stores.
Fresh Lime. There is a whole lot of fatty, rich flavors happening in this sauce, the lime is a welcomed zest that cuts the flavor but also adds the perfect amount of sweetness.
Salt. You just need a bit of salt, as you do with almost everything!
Substitutes and variations
Greek Yogurt. You can always use sour cream in place of Greek yogurt. Many recipes call for sour cream, but I prefer Greek yogurt. They are totally interchangeable, though.
Cilantro. If cilantro tastes like soap to you, I'm sorry to hear that. You can either omit the fresh cilantro or add in a dried spice like cumin.
Fresh Lime. If you don't have fresh lime, you can use lime juice from concentrate or lemon.
Extra Spice. Add in some fresh jalapeno slices if you want a spicy avocado cream sauce.
How to make avocado cream at home?
- In a food processor, combine your avocado, greek yogurt, cilantro and fresh lime.
- Blend until smooth.
- That's it! Drizzle it on your tacos, grilled chicken or use it as a salad dressing.
Recipe Tips
Use ripe avocados. Not only will it be absolutely impossible to blend if the avocados aren't ripe, but it'll also taste bitter and just bad.
Be mindful with the salt. You will be adding this to tacos, chicken, fish, steak, salads, etc. that are already very flavorful, so you want to be very mindful of the salt!
How to quickly ripen avocados
The paper bag method. You can place the avocados in a brown paper bag with a banana or apple. These fruits emit ethylene gas that helps the avocado ripen quickly.
The oven method. You can preheat your oven to 200F, and wrap your avocado(s) in aluminum foil. Place in the oven and every 10 minutes check. tosee if they've reached the desired softness.
