I can't say I've ever been to La Scala, but what I can say is that I get why the Kardashians claim the famous La Scala Chopped Salad to be one of their favorite salads. This copycat viral recipe is amazing.

You'll love this La Scala chopped salad

This is apparently a Kardashian favorite. La Scala is an Italian restaurant in Beverly Hills that the Kardashians, and others, frequent. If this salad is any indication of the rest of their menu, I might have to book a flight to LA ASAP.

It’s honestly so easy to make. For a salad with this much flavor, it couldn't be easier to make.

It’s so good! Have I mentioned how good it is?

I can't say I've ever been to La Scala, but what I can say is that I get why the Kardashians claim the La Scala Chopped Salad to be one of their favorite salads. This copycat recipe is amazing.

    What is la scala?

La Scala is an Italian restaurant that has been in the Beverly Hills area for over 60 years! They also have a to-go location in Santa Monica. This is a famous salad recipe that you can make in the comfort of your own home without having to head cross-country to this Beverly Hills restaurant. This La Scala salad recipe was created in the 50s by Chef  Jean Leon, who was also the owner of the La Scala restaurant.

The salad itself is a delicious Italian chopped salad filled with so many goodies. The recipe has gone viral, and for good reason! It's such a delicious salad with a tangy dressing, you'll love this copycat recipe.

I can't say I've ever been to La Scala, but what I can say is that I get why the Kardashians claim the La Scala Chopped Salad to be one of their favorite salads. This copycat recipe is amazing.

Ingredients for the famous La Scala salad

    Let's start with the dressing

Dijon Mustard. Use whatever Dijon Mustard is your favorite, I get the one from ALDI!

Red Wine Vinegar. Similar to the mustard, if you have a preferred red wine vinegar brad, use that one, but I bought the ALDI brand this time.

Olive Oil. I only buy my olive oil from ALDI! This should come to no surprise, but it is great quality at a great price.

Parmesan. Use cheap "fake" parmesan for the dressing. It mixes in much better.

Salt and Pepper. Add as much salt and pepper as you'd like!

    Now onto the salad.

Shredded Iceberg Lettuce. I buy the pre-shredded lettuce to save some time. However, feel free to purchase a head of iceberg lettuce and shred it yourself. You want to use iceberg because the crisp lettuce makes SUCH a difference! It adds such a nice crunch.

Italian Salami. Whatever salami is your favorite, go with that! The salty salami adds such a delicious level of flavor to this legendary salad.

Shredded Mozzarella Cheese. I think rustic-cut mozzarella is really nice for this salad.

Garbanzo Beans. I rinse and drain a can of garbanzo beans and only use about half!

Parmesan. Now, I use nice parmesan to top the salad.

Pepper. I always love freshly cracked black pepper over any salad!

I can't say I've ever been to La Scala, but what I can say is that I get why the Kardashians claim the La Scala Chopped Salad to be one of their favorite salads. This copycat recipe is amazing.

How to make la scala chopped salad

    1. First, in your large bowl, you'll want to mix together your dressing ingredients: djon mustard, red wine vinegar, olive oil, parmesan, salt, and pepper.
    2. Then, pour in your lettuce, salami, garbanzo beans and mozzarella.
    3. Mix well and top with additional parmesan and fresh pepper.
    4. Scoop into a small bowl, serve, and enjoy!

What else can you add to the salad?

If you really want to dress this salad up, here are some ideas for add-ins!

    • Sun-dried tomatoes
    • Cucumbers
    • Radishes
    • Olives
    • Onion
    • Peppers
    • Croutons
    • Pepperoncini
    • Artichoke Hearts
    • Chicken Breast
    • Cherry Tomatoes
    • Red Onion
    • Bell Pepper

    Substitutions and variations

Lettuce. You can also use a mix of romaine lettuce and iceberg lettuce, you just need that light, and crunchy lettuce!

Turkey Slices. If you want to omit the hard salami, you can use turkey! Chop up a few slices of turkey lunch meat and use that instead in this Italian-inspired salad.

Meal Prepping. This is such an easy salad to prep for the week! Simply make your dressing separate and place it in a small container. In a large serving bowl, combine your salad ingredients and split it up into food storage containers for however many days you need to prep for.

Pasta Salad. Add some pasta into the mix and turn this original recipe into a pasta salad!

    Pin it for later!
