A dirty martini without olive brine!? Yup! If you don't like olives, but like pickles, try making a dirty martini with pickle brine instead.
It's easy to make as a batched cocktail. This is such an easy batched cocktail recipe to make! I've included all the instructions below so you can make a big batch of pickle juice martinis.
Ingredients
Pickle Juice. I prefer dill pickle juice, but you can use your favorite kind of pickles. Whether that be bread and butter, spicy pickles, etc. get creative!
Vodka. This cocktail recipe definitely needs to be made with vodka. I find gin to be a little too floral to pair with pickle flavor. You can use whatever vodka you like! I recommend using a slightly higher quality vodka since you aren't masking the vodka taste with a bunch of other ingredients.
Dry Vermouth. I like just a splash of dry vermouth in my martini, but I still like to include dry vermouth. However, if you want to omit the vermouth, you can!
How to make a martini with pickle juice
- In a mixing glass, add a handful of ice. I like to do 1 oz. of pickle juice and not even ½ an ounce of extra dry vermouth for every 2 oz. of vodka.
- Add in your pickle juice, vodka, and dry vermouth. Shake until the cocktail shaker is frosted.
- Strain into a chilled martini glass.
- Garnish and cheers!
Tip: You can double-strain your martini using a fine mesh strainer for an extra smooth pickle martini recipe.
Garnish ideas
It is always fun to have quick and easy garnishes for your martini recipes! Here are some ideas.
- Gherkins or cornichons - these are super easy to garnish your drink with!
- Slice a dill pickle into thin pieces - you can skewer them like I did or let your creativity shine!
- Sprig of fresh dill! You can never go wrong with using fresh herbs as a garnish.
Substitutions and variations
Different types of pickles. There are so many different types of pickles you can experiment with for this pickle juice cocktail! Sweet pickles, garlic dill pickles, homemade dill pickles, whatever catches your eye, try making a pickle martini with it! The different brines will add such fun flavors.
Dill pickle vodka. This is actually a thing! You can really amplify the pickle flavor by using dill pickle vodka.
