You are going to love these no-bake treats.

It’s easy to make. With a few simple ingredients, including creamy peanut butter and a delicious mixture of milk chocolate and semi-sweet chocolate chips, you are absolutely going to love this.

It’s the perfect twist on Rice Krispie Treats. Don't get me wrong, I love traditional Rice Krispie treats, but oh my god, this version is so good you'll love it, too.

It’s perfect for any occasion. Seriously! You can make this any time of the year and it'll be a hit no matter where you bring it.

    Ingredients

Rice Krispies Cereal. You really just need any crispy rice cereal, you can use generic brand or name brand!

Mini Marshmallows. I prefer using mini marshmallows when making any sort of crispy treats because they melt easier! You can absolutely use large marshmallows, but it'll just take a bit longer.

Butter. You can use salted or unsalted butter, just keep in mind you are adding peanut butter to this recipe so that also adds a bit of saltiness!

Peanut Butter. You will want to use creamy peanut butter as opposed to chunky peanut butter! Don't get it twisted, I love chunky peanut butter, but you want the butter, peanut butter, and marshmallow mixture as smooth as possible.

Vanilla Extract. Pro-tip... this will give your peanut butter rice krispie bars the slightest bit of elevation and make them absolutely drool-worthy!

Chocolate Chips. I like to use a mix of milk chocolate and semi-sweet chocolate for this. You can absolutely use white chocolate chips or dark chocolate chips if those are what you prefer!

Sea Salt. This is totally optional, but you can always sprinkle this on top as a little garnish.

How to make chocolate peanut butter rice krispie treats

    1. Spray a 9x13 inch pan with non-stick cooking spray. Set aside.
    2. In a large pot over medium heat, melt your butter and peanut butter together. Once melted, add in your mini marshmallows.
    3. Remove from heat, add in your Rice Krispie cereal and stir in the combination of peanut butter, butter and marshmallows until the cereal is evenly coated.
    4. Pour your cereal mixture into your prepared pan and using parchment paper, press it into an even layer across your dish.
    5. Set aside and melt your chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl for 30-second increments. You can also melt your chocolate on the stove top, I prefer the microwave!
    6. Once you have melted chocolate, pour on top of your cereal treats to get that thick layer of chocolate.
    7. Cover with plastic wrap and set in the fridge and allow your crispy treats to cool for at least 30 minutes.

    Recipe Tips

Use fresh marshmallows and cereal. For the best results, you have to use fresh marshmallows and cereal! That's a tip for any variation from classic rice krispies to these peanut butter chocolate rice krispie treats.

Use parchment paper to press the treats down. Do NOT use wax paper! Wax paper is made of wax and it will melt on top of your treats. Using parchment paper allows you to gently pat down the cereal treats while avoiding a huge mess.

Bring the treats to room temperature before serving. Have them chilled while you're cutting them, it'll make your life so much easier, but bring them to room temperature to serve them. Nobody wants to bite into cold bricks of rice krispie treats.

That'll result in very whimsy, sticky and greasy squares.

Do homemade rice krispie treats need to stay in the fridge?

Nope! Store them in an airtight container on your counter and you can enjoy them for the next 5-7 days.
