Yes! Fully cooked chicken sausage in the air fryer is the absolute best way to cook it. Believe me. It gets this perfectly cooked outside and stays juicy on the inside. You'll love it.
The best brands of chicken sausage (in my opinion)
Trader Joe's. For the price and the options you have, Trader Joe's chicken sausage is my favorite.
ALDI. The chicken sausage I used in this recipe is from ALDI. They don't have as many variations as Trader Joe's, but again for the price, you can't beat the flavor and quality.
Amylu. Amylu has some really fun flavors if you're looking to add variety to your weeknight dinners. For example, at the time I'm writing this they have Cacio e Pepe, Artichoke Leek & Gruyere and Michigan Cherry to name a few.
Ingredients
Chicken Sausage. Of course you'll need chicken sausage! For this recipe I used the Italian Chicken Sausage from ALDI.
Veggies. Use whatever veggies you like, or whatever veggies look like they're on their last leg in the fridge. For this recipe I used sweet potato, onion and green pepper.
How to make air fryer chicken sausage and veggies.
- Preheat your air fryer to 370F. If your air fryer doesn't have a preheat option, simply set it to 370F and let it run for 4 minutes.
- Chop your veggies and toss them in 1 tablespoon of olive oil + 2 tablespoon of any spice combination you want.
- Add your veggies to the air fryer basket, air fry at 370F for 5 minutes.
- After those 5 minutes, add in your chicken sausage and air fry for 8 minutes, flipping halfway through.
- Allow everything to cool slightly and enjoy!
Recipe tips
Preheat your air fryer. Think of your air fryer like an oven, to get the best cook on anything, you absolutely need to preheat it.
Don’t poke the skin. Then all the juices drain and you're just left with a sad, flavorless chicken sausage.
Keep them in a single layer. You want to make sure everything cooks evenly and the only way to do that is to preheat your air fryer and keep everything in a single layer.
Flip halfway. Especially since you're cooking on top of veggies, you'll want to flip it halfway to make sure the outside cooks evenly.
What to serve with chicken sausage
I like serving air fryer veggies, air fryer french fries, brown rice, or a simple salad like this kale caesar salad.
