It's so festive! The warmth of the bourbon + fizz of the prosecco makes it so perfect for this time of year! It's such a warm yet festive bourbon cocktail.
It's delicious. It's so good! The spiced simple syrup paired with pear juice, bourbon and prosecco makes for such a delicious drink
Ingredients
Bourbon. I prefer to use bourbon for this cocktail, and bourbon, in general, is my preferred whiskey varietal. It's sweeter and easier on the taste buds, in my opinion.
Pear Juice. You can find pear juice or pear nectar in your local grocery store! I really recommend sticking with pear for this cocktail, it tastes like the colder months and is such a great way to switch up your cocktail game this time of year. It seems as though there are so many apple and cranberry cocktails, so this is something different!
Spiced Simple Syrup. Spiced simple syrup is SO easy to make and you are going to want to have it in your fridge all season long. It's just the quintessential fall spice blend.
Prosecco. To make this a true "sparkler" you have to add some bubbles! I prefer prosecco, but I also included some substitutions below.
How to make spiced simple syrup
- In a small saucepan, combine 1 cup of water, ¾ cup of brown sugar, 1 cinnamon stick, ¼ cup of maple syrup, and a small ½ inch knob of fresh ginger.
- Stir until the brown sugar is dissolved, and bring to a simmer.
- Turn off the heat, and let your syrup steep for 15 minutes.
- Strain your syrup through a fine mesh strainer. I typically like to strain mine into a glass measuring cup so I can easily pour it into an airtight container.
- Let your syrup cool for 15-20 minutes before closing the airtight container and storing it in the fridge for up to 2 weeks.
Tip: if you want the syrup to last longer, you can add a squeeze of lemon juice. The acidity in the lemon helps preserve the syrup for about 1-2 weeks longer.
How to make this spiced pear and bourbon sparkler
- In a cocktail shaker, add 1.5 oz bourbon, .5 oz spiced simple syrup, 2 oz. pear juice, and fresh ice.
- Shake and strain into your martini glass.
- Top with 1-2 oz of prosecco.
- Garnish with sliced pear and enjoy!
How to make a batched version of this spiced pear and bourbon
It's the holidays, and we love making batched cocktails for parties! Luckily, this cocktail can mainly be pre-batched for any occasion. This will make 10 cocktails.
- In a large pitcher, combine 15 oz bourbon, 5 oz spiced simple syrup, and 20 oz (or 2.5 cups) pear juice.
- Once you're ready to serve, add ice to the pitcher, this way you won't have to shake each cocktail before serving.
- To serve, pour 4 oz into a martini glass and top with a splash of prosecco.
Tip: To avoid the prosecco going flat, I don't recommend combining it in the large pitcher. I recommend topping your drink off with fresh prosecco when you serve the cocktails.
Substitutions and variations
Bourbon. You can substitute with whiskey, rye or scotch if those are what you prefer. Alternatively, a resposado tequila is an aged tequila so that'll give you a really nice warm vanilla flavor without using bourbon.
Prosecco. If you don't want to use prosecco, you can use another dry sparkling wine, or you can use ginger ale or ginger beer!
Non-Alc. You can always buy N/A bourbon and prosecco to make this into a mocktail version.
