What is a Moscow mule?
A traditional Moscow Mule served in a copper mug combines lime juice, mint leaves, ginger beer, and vodka. It's a classic cocktail and always hits the spots, plus it has some fun variations, like this blueberry Moscow mule!
Why is a drink called a mule?
The name of a Moscow mule comes from the combination of vodka and ginger beer. Since vodka is often associated with Russian culture, that's where the "Moscow" comes from. The mule comes from the kick of flavor from the ginger beer.
Ingredients
Fresh blueberries. For that blueberry flavor, I use fresh blueberries. It's an easy way to get that blueberry flavor. You can also use 1 oz. of blueberry syrup or blueberry vodka.
Fresh lime. You'll want fresh lime juice and then save a lime wedge for a fun, colorful garnish!
Fresh mint. You'll need 2-3 fresh mint leaves, and similar to the lime, save a sprig of mint for a garnish. Mint makes for such a pretty garnish.
Ginger beer. I prefer to use any kind of diet ginger beer, but if you don't have ginger beer, you can also use ginger ale.
Vodka. You can use whatever plain vodka you prefer. Tito's Handmade Vodka is always a great, affordable go-to.
