You'll love this Grinch mimosa recipe
It's easy to make. Unlike the 2-ingredient classic mimosa, this Grinch cocktail recipe has 3 ingredients, but it is still SO easy to make!
It's so festive. I mean, if there's one way to spread holiday cheer at a party, it's with a festive cocktail! Whether you're making these for Christmas brunch or your next cookie exchange, this is the perfect addition to any celebration.
It's a fun twist on the traditional mimosa. This green cocktail will get anyone in the holiday spirit!
Ingredients
With a few simple ingredients, these Grinch mimosas come together in no time!
Prosecco. Like any mimosa, you need the bubbly! I prefer using prosecco versus champagne, just because prosecco is a bit more budget-friendly, and if you are mixing your bubbly, you don't need to splurge on a nice bottle of prosecco or champagne!
Orange Juice. I highly recommend fresh orange juice for all my mimosa recipes. It truly makes such a difference, and it's so easy to do!
Blue Curaçao. Blue curaçao mixed with orange juice is what gives you that green color that turns a regular mimosa into a festive Grinch mimosa recipe.
Strawberries. Strawberries are the perfect garnish! I like to cut mine to look like a heart, but that's unnecessary! It still looks cute just as it.
How to make a Grinch mimosa
- In a champagne flute, add 1.5 ounces of orange juice and .5 oz blue curaçao. You want just a splash of blue curacao for the perfect green!
- Top with prosecco or champagne. Be careful to avoid a fizz spillover!
- Give it a gentle stir, and garnish with fresh strawberries.
- Enjoy!
What is blue curaçao?
Blue curaçao is Laraha citrus fruit, a fruit native to Curacao, infused in alcohol. It has an orangey citrusy taste to it. This may be disappointing, but the reason you have that blue color is not due to any cool infusing process, it's from food coloring.
Substitutions and variations
Prosecco. If you want to substitute for prosecco, you can use any dry sparkling white wine. Another perfect way to add just a bit of natural sweetness is by using almond prosecco! Alternatively, if you want a non-alcoholic option, you can use an N/A sparkling wine, ginger beer, ginger ale, or white grape juice.
Orange Juice. If you don't want to use orange juice you can use pineapple juice or mango juice instead! Both still make beautiful green cocktails when mixed with the blue curaçao.
Blue Curaçao. If you don't want to use blue curaçao, you can use a bit of blue food coloring or a green melon liqueur to still get that green mimosa color!
Edible Glitter. If you really want to add a festive twist on these Grinch mimosas for holiday parties, add some edible glitter!
Other garnish ideas
Don't have strawberries? No problem! There are plenty of other easy garnish ideas that are still perfect for the Christmas season.
- Maraschino Cherries
- Orange Slice
- Sugar Rim. Simply spread vanilla frosting over the rim of the glass, and dip in red sugar or sprinkles!
