Where did brownies come from? Brownies' origin story starts in the US, however, the exact origin of brownies may never be known. One story claims that brownies were invented in 1893 at the Palmer House Hotel in Chicago. Bertha Palmer (her husband owned Palmer House) requested something small that can fit in boxed lunches, but also something cake-like, and thus the Palmer House Brownie was born. It was made with chocolate, walnuts, and an apricot glaze. Currently, Palmer House still serves dessert to its patrons using the same recipe.
– Preheat oven to 375F and line a 9x9 inch pan with parchment paper. This makes this far easier when removing the brownies from the metal pan. – Using a hand mixer or a stand mixer, cream together the butter, sugar, and condensed milk in a large bowl. – Add in the eggs and vanilla extract. – Add your dry ingredients (flour, baking powder, cocoa powder, and salt) into the mixing bowl. No need to mix the dry ingredients together in a small bowl! – Fold in your chocolate chips, and be sure to save some for the top of the brownies. – Pour your brownie batter into the prepared pan. – Pour into your prepared 9x9 pan and bake for 40-45 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean after being stuck in the middle. – Allow the brownies to cool and then using a sharp knife, slice them into squares. Be sure to wipe the knife clean after every cut, this'll give you the best results. – Serve on its own or with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and enjoy!
Condensed milk brownies tips and tricks 1. Make sure your butter and eggs are at room temperature. 2. If you want extra chocolatey brownies, use dark cocoa powder. The dark chocolate flavor makes for truly the ultimate brownie recipe. 3. Don't over-mix your batter! Overmixing with an electric mixer could be fairly easy, but keep the mixer on low and slow for the best brownies. 4. Use parchment paper for your prepared baking dish. 5. Gently fold in any add-ins.
