Roasted Chickpeas

I love to snack…. well pretty much I love to eat. I love finding creative, yet healthy snack recipes. When I was perusing Pinterest, I had found a lot of recipes for Roasted Chickpeas. I mean, I can pretty much eat hummus by the spoonful, so this recipe seemed perfect for me to try. Judgement free zone- but come on, hummus is awesome. Plus I am attempting to reduce the amount of carbs I eat, which is slowly (by slowly I mean, like, really really slowly) coming along. The little roasted chick peas are actually super tasty and they have a great texture. It is a super addicting snack, like popcorn. Seriously, I have a popcorn addiction, soon to be roasted chick peas addiction. I eat popcorn everyday. Here’s what you need to make this snack…

Ingredients

1 can Chickpeas

2 tbsp Olive Oil

1/2 tbsp Garlic Powder

1/2 tbsp Chili Powder

1/2 tbsp Cumin

Directions

-Preheat your oven to 400 degrees (Fahrenheit)

-Rinse your chickpeas in a strainer, and make sure that all of the clear shells are off

-Dry your chickpeas and place them on a baking tray. Make sure you have a tray that has a little bit of depth, that way your chickpeas will not roll off

-Drizzle the 2 tbsp of Olive Oil over the dried chickpeas on the baking tray. Roll the chick peas around (don’t be afraid to use your hands to roll them around)

-Sprinkle your spices onto the Chickpeas and then place them on the middle rack in the oven

-Bake for 20 to 30 minutes. Personally, I only baked them for 20 minutes. I took some out of the oven and tried it. You’ll want a somewhat crunchy outside and a warm inside.

-Let them cool a little and enjoy!

They are very good right out of the oven. They are still good once they have cooled down, but I prefer them still hot.  FullSizeRender (8) FullSizeRender (7)
