Pumpkin Pie Pinwheels

Pumpkin Pie Pinwheels

It is officially pumpkin season. Ohhhh yeah. I had originally wanted to make pumpkin pie cinnamon rolls, but then I decided to make them into little flattened pin wheels instead. Essentially the same thing, only I laid them out separately on a cookie sheet. Without further ado, here is what you’ll need to make these lil’ guys.

Makes 12 Pinwheels

Ingredients for Pinwheel

1 packet Dough- I used Pilsbury Crescent dough, and it was super flaky and yummy

6 tbsp Butter

2 tbsp Pumpkin Pie Spices

1/2 tbsp Cinnamon

1/2 c. Brown Sugar- packed

Ingredients for the Icing

3 tbsp Cream Cheese- full fat or low fat, doesn’t matter… pick whichever fat content your heart desires

2 tbsp Butter

1 tsp Vanilla Extract

1 tbsp Powdered Sugar

-Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit

-In a microwavable bowl, melt your 6 tbsp of butter. Then pour in the Spices, Cinnamon, and Brown Sugar. Mix it up.

-Roll out your dough sheet. The crescent had originally unrolled somewhat small. So I used a roller and flour and rolled it out.

-Spread the butter, spices, sugar mixture all onto the dough.

-Roll your dough into a log- it is hard to get started, be gentle!

-Cut your roll into 12, 1/2 inch sections and then place onto a cookie dough sheet. Make sure to butter or PAM or do whatever you’ve gotta do to create a non-sticky surface on the cookie dough sheet. This is important!!!

-Once you’ve got the the little wheels all cut and put on a greased cookie dough sheet, bake for roughly 20 minutes (or until golden brown)

-While those are baking, take another microwavable bowl and put in the cream cheese and the rest of the stick of butter (2 tbsp). Microwave those for 30 seconds. Keep an eye on it! Stir it half way through, and microwave it for a little longer if need be. it shouldn’t be more than 40 seconds though.

-In your melted butter/cream cheese mix, pour in the vanilla extract and the powdered sugar, mix that together and there’s your frosting!

-Once your pinwheels are done baking, take them out of the oven, and put the icing on there right away so it just melts and gets all ooey gooey.

-Take them off the cookie sheet, place them on whatever you want (plate, serving tray, what have you…) and enjoy!!

Unravel them, eat them with a fork or just eat them in 2 bites. These little wheels are so so so yummy and a perfect treat for the fall season.
