With football season and tailgating in full swing, I’m always looking for new appetizer recipes. I seem to find myself always going towards spicy dips, and jalapeños twists on some favorite apps. Thankfully, as the leader in the chiles and peppers category, LA MORENA® has been providing US consumers with the highest quality products made in the style and with the taste of the authentic Mexican home and traditional recipes for over 45 years. So, like, duh, I had to go with LA MORENA® for these poppers. Not to mention I look for super easy appetizer recipes. The last thing you want to do if you have people over or are going over somewhere is to have some difficult recipe that then goes all wrong. Trust me, been there, done that, it is not fun. Plus if you’re anything like me, you then just get annoyed and frustrated that your dish didn’t turn out so you’re in a sour mood. But, the good news is that these Jalapeños Popper Crescent Pops are super super easy, and there’s no way you can mess them up.
This recipe requires one bowl, one spoon and one baking pan, so very minimal clean up. This recipe uses LA MORENA® Whole Jalapeños, which comes in a 7 oz., 13 oz., 28 oz., or a 108 oz., can. You can also use the LA MORENA® Sliced Jalapeños which comes in the same sizes. These come pickled in vinegar with onion and carrots. I LOVE spicy carrots, and these pickled carrots that came with the jalapeños were so good, I just immediately ate them all before actually starting to make this recipe. I’ve rediscovered my love for pickled jalapeños, and these LA MORENA®are going to become a staple in my cabinet.
I used the 13 oz size of the whole jalapeños, I sliced the jalapeños in half and then sliced each half into 3-5 tiny little pieces. Because I wanted to dice the jalapeños tiny, I chose the whole jalapenos instead of the slices. You could very well choose the slices and and use them whole, or cut them in half. I’m sold to use these pickled jalapeños, carrots and onions in like every single recipe. In regards to the seeds, I loosely cut them out. I some seeds got left out, some didn’t. Some may think with the seeds it will be too spicy. However, with the cream cheese and Mexican shredded cheese this recipe calls for, the spiciness is very well balanced out.
So where can you find these LA MORENA® products? You can find them in select Jewel’s around the Chicago-land area and totally rediscover flavor when it comes to all your spicy dishes. They are in the Hispanic aisle, and with the orange packaging you cannot miss them. I also bought the chipotle sauce, added a tablespoon of ranch to make a ranch chipotle dipping sauce. Yup…. these were some of the best apps I’ve ever made.
These ingredients make for a perfect 16 crescent rolls. You didn’t have any left over filling, or left over crescents. The perfect recipe! Or I like to think so. When you’re filling each crescent, you’re going to want to just put about a tablespoon of filling in each one. I personally folded the outer corners of the crescent in to make a ball, or “pop” shape. I think that’s best for keeping the filling in tact. I then topped with more cheese…. because…. why not?
