Let’s all face it- drinking water could get flat out boring. Sometimes you crave that Diet Pepsi (or whatever pop you drink) or that sugary juice you have in the fridge. You want to switch it up! I get it! We have all been there.
This post has three of my favorite infused water ideas. What I like to do, after I was inspired by my long-time best friend and her family (hayyyyy Trams!!!!) is fill a pitcher with various fruits/herbs and keep on refilling that throughout the day with water. I keep it sitting out on the counter. The infused water is just there staring at you- and it looks so good you can’t help but to continue to refill your glass. Next thing you know, you’re the most hydrated person in town.
First is a citrus & mint infused water. There is no way you should get sick after drinking this infused water…. so much Vitamin C!!!! Throw that Emergen-C garbage out right now, and drink this! I’m telling ya. It is so tasty, and the mint is a great additional flavor. The mint is necessary so the water isn’t over-powered with citrus flavor. I added in 1/2 lemon, 1/2 lime, 1/4 grapefruit, 1/2 orange and 1 handful mint.
Second is lime, cucumber & mint. This one was my mom’s favorite. It was very refreshing. I would suggest muddling or twisting the mint leaves before putting them in the water. This extracts the flavor more than simply putting the mint leaves in the water. For this water, peel and slice 1/2 a cucumber, squeeze 1/2 lime, and muddle 1 handful of mint.
The third one is Strawberry Orange. For this one, I used frozen strawberries. This really gave the water a strong taste of strawberry. The strawberries defrosted in the water, which is why there was such a prominent strawberry flavor. I am not complaining though. I really enjoyed the strong flavor. For this water, I squeezed 1 orange and put in 1 c. frozen strawberries.
These infused waters are great for anyone, especially those people who New Years Resolutions were to give up sugary drinks, pop and/or just drink more water!
