Chocolate Covered Oreo’s Mummies and Ghosts- No Bake!

Holiday treats are so fun to cook and bake. Some are incredibly easy, like these chocolate mummies and ghosts. Others are very intricate, and you have to pay very close attention to detail, like my mom’s amaaaaaaaaazing fudge. Aside from decorating your home, I think that cooking and baking holiday themed foods is one of the best ways to get in the holiday spirit. No matter what holidays you choose to celebrate, there are so many themed recipes to go along with it.

With that being said, the weather in Chicago really turned into feeling like fall these past couple weeks. Nostalgia of being a kid and picking out Halloween costumes, carving pumpkins, going to pumpkin patches or apple orchards has come into full swing. This weather is what makes the scorching hot summers and the dreadful Chiberia winters worth it- ask any Chicagoan and they will probably have the same feeling. The leaves are changing into beautiful deep reds and rich oranges, it is sunny yet there is a chill in the wind. Gah, I just love this weather. With it being mid-October, and with this gorgeous weather, the overwhelmingly urge to bake Halloween treats came upon me. So, that is exactly what I did. I made these Chocolate Mummies and Ghosts. These are very easy to make, because they are simply white chocolate covered Oreo’s. Although I am only 22, and do not have any children, I can imagine that this recipe is a great one to make with your kids. There is minimal measuring involved, there is no baking, and there is decorating the chocolate covered Oreo’s involved.

As for the Oreo’s, make sure to buy either regular or double stuffed. I bought double stuffed, cause go big or go home. When I was grocery shopping, I had the birthday cake Oreo’s in my cart. I almost bought them, but luckily I caught myself and went back to get some double stuffed. There are so many flipping kinds of Oreo’s!!!!!

Below you’ll find what you need and how to make these cute little guys- the recipe is printable!

Chocolate Mummies and Ghosts

Prep Time: 15 minutes

Cook Time: 15 minutes

Total Time: 30 minutes

Roughly 24 Cookies

  • 1 package regular Oreo's
  • 1 24 oz. bag of White Chocolate Chips
  • 1 package Candy Eyes (found in the Halloween baking section- made by Betty Crocker)
  • 1 handful Chocolate Chips

  • Take a cookie sheet and cover it with wax paper. This will make it easy for the cookies to not stick to a surface while hardening, and it'll make for an easier clean up!
  • Pour 2 cups of white chocolate chips into a microwavable bowl. Microwave for 30 second intervals, and stir in between.* This will give you enough chocolate for about half the pack of Oreo's. This ensures the chocolate will not harden on you.
  • Once you have your melted chocolate, use the spoon you were stirring to assist you with dipping and covering the Oreo's.
  • Dip each Oreo one by one, use the spoon to make sure that each Oreo is evenly covered in chocolate.
  • Place the chocolate covered Oreo onto the wax paper covered cookie sheet. Continue this until there is minimal chocolate in the bowl.
  • With whatever chocolate you can scrape from the bowl, use that and your spoon, to drizzle it over the cookies. Create however many mummies you would like, or that your leftover chocolate will allow
  • Stick the candy eyes on the cookies, and for the ghosts, stick the chocolate chips point side down onto the cookies.
  • Place in the freezer to cool.
  • Repeat these steps, from step 1 to the step right before this, for your second batch of cookies.
  • Once chilled, enjoy your Halloween treat!
