Holiday treats are so fun to cook and bake. Some are incredibly easy, like these chocolate mummies and ghosts. Others are very intricate, and you have to pay very close attention to detail, like my mom’s amaaaaaaaaazing fudge. Aside from decorating your home, I think that cooking and baking holiday themed foods is one of the best ways to get in the holiday spirit. No matter what holidays you choose to celebrate, there are so many themed recipes to go along with it.
With that being said, the weather in Chicago really turned into feeling like fall these past couple weeks. Nostalgia of being a kid and picking out Halloween costumes, carving pumpkins, going to pumpkin patches or apple orchards has come into full swing. This weather is what makes the scorching hot summers and the dreadful Chiberia winters worth it- ask any Chicagoan and they will probably have the same feeling. The leaves are changing into beautiful deep reds and rich oranges, it is sunny yet there is a chill in the wind. Gah, I just love this weather. With it being mid-October, and with this gorgeous weather, the overwhelmingly urge to bake Halloween treats came upon me. So, that is exactly what I did. I made these Chocolate Mummies and Ghosts. These are very easy to make, because they are simply white chocolate covered Oreo’s. Although I am only 22, and do not have any children, I can imagine that this recipe is a great one to make with your kids. There is minimal measuring involved, there is no baking, and there is decorating the chocolate covered Oreo’s involved.
As for the Oreo’s, make sure to buy either regular or double stuffed. I bought double stuffed, cause go big or go home. When I was grocery shopping, I had the birthday cake Oreo’s in my cart. I almost bought them, but luckily I caught myself and went back to get some double stuffed. There are so many flipping kinds of Oreo’s!!!!!
